Nelson is from Arab, Alabama, where he grew up working with his father and grand-father on their small cattle farm. He graduated with special honors in his major at Jacksonville State University in 2015, where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice. In 2019 he finished in the top third of his class at Cumberland School of Law, Samford University. While at Cumberland, he served as the President of the Federalist Society, a Senior Member of the Trial Board, competed on the Mediation Team, and made Dean's List every semester. Nelson was admitted to practice in Georgia in 2019 and Alabama in 2020.
As an Alabama native, when Nelson is not cheering for the Crimson Tide, he spends his free time with his son, wife, and friends hiking, fishing, or camping.
